Sacramental Information Brochure

This brochure explains our Sacramental Journey of Discipleship in detail. It also includes key dates and events for 2023. Our process begins a full 12 months before receiving the sacrament and includes attending Mass regularly.

Connect Card-Sacramental Process                                                                                This Sacramental Connect Card is especially for families who have been regularly worshipping with our community at Mass, and whose children feel drawn to receiving the sacraments of confirmation or communion. Pick one up at Mass, complete and drop it in a collection plate, or email it back to us. One of our team will be in touch.

A personal encounter with Jesus within the worshipping community might lead to a desire to commit more fully to life as a disciple, through the sacrament of Confirmation.

The next step in our process is to approach Fr Josekutty or Anne for an informal chat where together, we discern readiness to receive the sacrament. The signs of readiness are the 4 signs of discipleship.

      • Listening to God’s Word & Church teachings
      • Being welcomed and welcoming in our parish community
      • Worshipping by coming to Mass
      • Witnessing through service with the community

From the year the child turns 8, and when s/he feels that they are regularly living these signs, they will be ready for Confirmation preparation. Following preparation, a date for Confirmation will be discussed.

What is Confirmation?
“The Sacrament of Confirmation is the second of the three sacraments of Christian initiation. Confirmation completes Baptism, by which in the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism Oil, which first happened at Baptism, we are confirmed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit. We are reminded of our participation in the ministry and mission of Jesus, and strengthened to follow Jesus more closely.”
